Walking in GRANADA / Spain πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ

Viewpoint to Viewpoint (2020)

The city of Granada, located in Andalusia of southern Spain is a popular tourist destination. With impressive medieval architecture from Moorish occupation the Alhambra is one of the main sights of Granada. The old town of Granada has many churches and monasteries from later periods that we visit on other walks here on POPtravel.

This walking tour starts with a view of the Alhambra from the viewpoint “Mirador San NicolΓ‘s”. Many tourists enjoy this view after a short walk from the center. We walk downhill through the old town first, strolling through the narrow streets where we see the traditional architecture and some churches.

When we get to the Plaza Santa Anna we explore the city center for a while. We see the Catedral de Granada, get to the Plaza de la Trinidad and finally head mostly south. We pass the Fuente de las Batallas on our way to the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo.

In the southern area of the Granada city center we head to the to the eastern viewpoint “Mirador de Barranco del Abogado”. Our walk continues eastwards along the Jardines del SalΓ³n at the Genil river before it gets a bit more difficult…

To get the the viewpoint there is a long way uphill where I get a bit out of breath yet in the end we can enjoy a nice view over Granada with the coming sunset.
