Cần Thơ, Vietnam

Cần Thơ is the largest city in the Mekong Delta, home to roughly 1.25 million residents on the Hậu River, a distributary of the Mekong. The 2010 Cần Thơ Bridge spans the river with a 550-metre main span, ranking among the longest cable-stayed bridges in Southeast Asia. Six kilometres from the centre, Cái Răng Floating Market sees about 500 boats trade fruit and vegetables at dawn, making it the largest market of its kind in the delta. The 1894 Binh Thuy Ancient House blends French and Vietnamese architecture, and the 2002 Mekong Delta Rice Institute studies the region that grows half of Vietnam's rice.
