Walking in Can Tho, Vietnam - Mekong River Delta - 4K

Watch on YouTube
Can Tho is the largest city in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, with a population of over 1.2 million. Located on the Hau River, it serves as a major agricultural and trading hub, particularly known for its floating markets like Cai Rang, where goods are sold from boats early in the morning and which we also recorded here on POPtravel ( YouTube ).
The city’s nickname is the "Western Capital" of Vietnam. A local legend suggests that Can Tho’s original name, "Cầm Thi Giang" (River of Poems), came from poets inspired by its scenic rivers.
Economically, Can Tho is crucial to Vietnam's rice production, with the Mekong Delta known as the country’s "rice bowl." Can Tho University, established in 1966, is a leading educational institution in the region.
Can Tho is connected by the Can Tho Bridge, one of Southeast Asia’s longest cable-stayed bridges, spanning 2.75 km across the Hau River.
On our walk we see the market, walk along the river promenade and eventually back to the city. We get a good glimpse into a Vietnamese city that most tourists visit on their Mekong cruise or traveling to/from Cambodia by bus.
