Lindos, Greece

Lindos is a coastal village on the eastern coast of Rhodes island in Greece, supporting a permanent population of around 800 residents. Founded in the 10th century BC by Dorians, it grew into a major maritime power and one of the three ancient cities of Rhodes. The village features sugar-cube white houses and narrow pedestrian lanes leading up to the cliffside Acropolis of Lindos. Atop the precipice, ancient Hellenistic columns of the Temple of Athena Lindia stand inside medieval fortifications built by the Knights of Saint John. Below the headland, Saint Paul's Bay and Lindos Beach offer clear turquoise waters for swimming and boat excursions.
