Kaş, Turkey

Kaş is a town of roughly 60,000 residents on Turkey's Lycian coast, about 190 kilometers west of Antalya. It stands on the site of Antiphellos, an ancient Lycian settlement, and the 4th-century BC Lycian rock tombs still rise above its harbour while a 1st-century BC Hellenistic theatre overlooks the sea. The long-distance Lycian Way trail passes through the town, and a ferry links it to the Greek island of Kastellorizo, six kilometers offshore. The 1923 Greek-Turkish population exchange reshaped its community, and eighty kilometers east at Uluburun divers found a Bronze Age shipwreck, the oldest deep-water wreck ever recorded, dating to 1305 BC.
