Overview
Amsterdam is home to over 850,000 bicycles, more than the number of residents. This time we walk again this nicely walkable city. We are visiting Amsterdam once in a while for long walks in and around the city center: Search: 'Amsterdam'

The city's network of canals, built in the 17th century during the Dutch Golden Age, has earned it the nickname "Venice of the North". Amsterdam’s three main canals are Herengracht, Prinsengracht, and Keizersgracht. They form a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On this tour we see much of Amsterdam, including The Royal Palace, located on Dam Square. It was originally built as a city hall in the 17th century before becoming a royal residence.

The city of Amsterdam is also known for its tulip trade. There are flower markets that sell millions of tulips each year, continuing a tradition that dates back to the "tulip mania" of the 1600s.

Some more facts: Amsterdam lies about two meters below sea level. The city is protected by a complex system of dikes and pumps. An Amsterdam is popular with expats - a diverse population includes people from over 180 nationalities.

So let's enjoy Amsterdam on this long summer walking tour!
