Overview
Kaunas is the second-largest city in Lithuania. Kaunas is located at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers and has around 290,000 residents. The city is known for its interwar modernist architecture, which earned it a UNESCO World Heritage designation in 2021.

We visited Kaunas in January 2019 last time ( YouTube ).

This time our tour starts in the Old Town which includes sights like the Town Hall, known as the "White Swan," and the Gothic-style Vytautas' Church. We see the 14th-century Kaunas Castle which is one of the city’s oldest landmarks.

At last we also walk Laisvės Alėja, a long pedestrian street - a popular area for shopping and restaurants. We end our tour at the Church of St. Michael the Archangel.

Did you know: Kaunas was a temporary capital of Lithuania between 1919 and 1940.
