Description
Let's discover Eltville along the Rhine in Germany! Known for its fragrant roses, world-class Riesling, and connection to history, Eltville is a town that is a nice day trip from Frankfurt, Wiesbaden or around.
Our journey begins in the Rosengarten, where thousands of roses bloom beside the walls of the Kurfürstliche Burg.
We then head to the scenic Rhine promenade and continue our walk to the towering Parish Church of St. Peter and Paul, a masterpiece of Gothic design. The route follows narrow lanes like the Rosengasse into the Marktplatz, There half-timbered houses share the small square with Baroque facades and a fountain depicting local legends.
Later we pass through Martin's Gate, the sole surviving medieval city gate, imagining the carts of winegrowers who once passed through on their way to the river crane.
Our walk concludes back to the Rosengarten and into the Rheingarten, offering a final, view across the water. We head to the train station and end our tour.
