Da Lat is the capital of Lâm Đồng Province in Vietnam's Central Highlands, home to roughly 400,000 residents at an altitude of 1,500 meters. Developed by the French in the early 20th century as a cool-climate hill station, the city is surrounded by pine forests, waterfalls, and agricultural valleys. Central Xuan Huong Lake anchors the town center, near French colonial villas, strawberry farms, and the surreal architectural complex known as the Crazy House. The 1938 Da Lat Railway Station preserves Art Deco styling with three pointed roofs inspired by Langbiang Mountain peaks. Visitors walk through night markets, hike around alpine lakes, and explore pine-shaded flower gardens.
