Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory located at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, home to roughly 34,000 residents across 6.7 square kilometers. Dominated by the 426-meter-high Rock of Gibraltar, it commands the narrow strait connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea. The Upper Rock Nature Reserve shelters roughly 300 Barbary macaques, Europe's only wild monkey population, along with St. Michael's Cave and its subterranean auditorium. Military history spans the 18th-century Great Siege Tunnels and World War II underground defense galleries carved through limestone.
