Cambridge, UK
Cambridge is an English city of roughly 145,000 residents situated on the River Cam in the United Kingdom. The University of Cambridge was founded in 1209, making it the third-oldest university in the English-speaking world, and 121 of its affiliates have been awarded Nobel Prizes. King's College Chapel, begun in 1448 and completed over the following century, contains the largest fan vault in the world, while the 1831 Mathematical Bridge at Queens' College forms a curved profile using only straight timbers. The 1845 railway to Bishop's Stortford delivered the first passenger line into the city, and the 1730 Senate House marked the 1919 return of women's degrees.
