Bath is a city of roughly 95,000 residents on the River Avon and the only entire city in the UK designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Roman Baths, fed by 46°C geothermal springs, drew pilgrims from around 75 AD, while the 1170 Bath Abbey hosted the 973 coronation of Edgar as the first King of all England. The Royal Crescent, built by John Wood the Younger between 1767 and 1774, ranks as the largest Georgian crescent in the country, and the 1796 Pulteney Bridge is one of only four worldwide with shops built across its full span. Jane Austen lived in Bath from 1801 to 1806.
