Kemer, Turkey

Kemer sits on Turkey's Mediterranean coast about 43 km southwest of Antalya, home to roughly 50,000 residents. A 1980s tourism boom transformed a small fishing village into a resort destination, and the 1995 Yörük Park Open-Air Museum now displays semi-nomadic Turkmen culture. The 1973 Tahtalı cable car climbs 2,365 m to Mount Olympos along one of the longest single-cable runs in the world at 4,350 m, while the 1976 Phaselis Ancient City ruins occupy a bay of three harbours first settled in 692 BC. About 28 km east, the Eternal Flames of Chimaera (Yanartaş) burn natural methane through cracks in the rock.
