Lausanne, Switzerland

Lausanne sits on the north shore of Lake Geneva and is home to roughly 140,000 residents. It has served as the seat of the International Olympic Committee since 1915, and the 1993 Olympic Museum traces that global sporting legacy. The 1170 Lausanne Cathedral ranks as the largest Gothic church in Switzerland. The city spreads across three hills linked by the 1891 cogwheel metro and the 1991 LEB line, making it the smallest city in the world with a metro system. Lausanne also houses the École hôtelière de Lausanne, founded in 1893 as the world's first hospitality school.
