Malmö, Sweden

Malmö is the third-largest city in Sweden, with a population of about 360,000, and the largest in the southern region of Skåne. Since 2000 it has been linked to Copenhagen by the 7.8-kilometre Öresund bridge, which carries both rail and road traffic across the strait. The skyline is dominated by Turning Torso, a 190-metre residential tower designed by Santiago Calatrava and completed in 2006, making it the tallest residential building in Scandinavia. Malmöhus Castle, dating from 1434, now holds the city's history and art museums. At its centre lies Stortorget, founded in 1536 and the oldest large city square in the Nordic countries.
