Marbella, Spain

Marbella is a Spanish city of roughly 150,000 residents on the Costa del Sol, a figure that climbs to about 500,000 during the summer months. Its 10th-century Moorish Old Town retains narrow whitewashed lanes centered on the 1505 Plaza de los Naranjos, where the 1505 Casa del Corregidor serves as the seat of municipal government. The 1504 Santa María de la Encarnación church was built over a former mosque, and 27 kilometers of coastline stretch along the 1943 Puente Romano bridge area. The Marbella Club Hotel, opened in 1954 by Alfonso de Hohenlohe, drew the international visitors who still arrive today.
