Zielona Góra, Poland

Zielona Góra sits in western Poland with roughly 140,000 residents and holds the distinction of being the only Polish city with vineyards inside its municipal limits. The Palm House, built in 1961 on Wine Hill, shelters 200 plant species beneath a glass dome, while the 1818 Botanical Garden ranks among the oldest in the country. At the center, the 1450 medieval Old Town Hall fronts the longest cobblestone market square in the Lubusz region. Since 1852 the city has hosted the annual Grape Harvest Festival, and the vines behind that tradition still climb the city's slopes today.
