Łódź is a city of roughly 670,000 residents in central Poland and the country's third-largest urban center. Piotrkowska Street stretches 4.8 kilometers, making it one of the longest commercial streets in Europe. The 19th-century Izrael Poznański Palace, completed in 1872, ranks as the largest industrial magnate residence in Poland. Founded in 1948, the Łódź Film School trained directors Andrzej Wajda and Roman Polański. Manufaktura, opened in 2006, repurposes the 1872 Poznański textile factory into Europe's largest post-industrial shopping mall.
