Gdynia, Poland

Gdynia sits on Poland's Baltic coast with roughly 245,000 residents, making it the youngest of the three Tricity towns. Built almost from scratch after 1920, it was designed to give Poland a deep-water port. Today the ORP Błyskawica destroyer, launched in 1937, is moored as a museum ship beside the Dar Pomorza, a three-masted barque from 1909. The 1939 modernist residential blocks of Kamienna Góra are UNESCO-listed, and the 5-km Skwer Kościuszki pier ranks among the longest in the Baltic.
