Ludwigsburg, Germany

Ludwigsburg is a German city of roughly 93,000 residents located about 12 kilometers north of Stuttgart, founded in 1718 by Duke Eberhard Louis of Württemberg. Its centerpiece is the Residential Palace, the largest surviving baroque palace in Germany with 452 rooms, built between 1704 and 1733 and accompanied by the smaller Favorite Palace and Monrepos Lakeside Palace. The city is also home to the Ludwigsburg Porcelain Manufactory, founded in 1818 and the oldest of its kind in Baden-Württemberg, and the 30-hectare Blooming Baroque garden show established in 1994. The young Friedrich Schiller lived here in 1769 and 1770, leaving traces still tracked by visitors today.
