Dortmund sits on the Emscher in the Ruhr and counts roughly 592,000 residents, making it the largest city in Westphalia. From 1854 to 1987 it served as a coal-and-steel hub, and the 1987 Zeche Zollern II/IV colliery with its 1900–1902 Art Nouveau engine house now operates as a museum. The 1350 Reinoldikirche and the 1299 Petrikirche hold the 1380 Antwerp altar of the Berswordt family, while the 1875 Dortmunder Actien Brauerei made Dortmund the largest beer-brewing city in Europe by 1960. The 1974 Westfalenstadion, known as Signal Iduna Park, hosts Borussia Dortmund and seats 81,365 as Germany's largest football stadium.
