Hradec Králové, Czechia

Hradec Králové is a Czech city of about 94,000 residents located at the confluence of the Elbe and Orlice rivers, with a founding date recorded before 1225. The Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Spirit dates from 1307, while the White Tower, completed in 1574, rises to a 72-metre observation gallery and houses the second-largest bell in Bohemia, the 10-tonne Augustin cast in 1509. Between 1900 and 1930 the city earned the nickname "Salon of the Republic" for its Modernist planning under architects Jan Kotěra and Josef Gočár.
