Český Krumlov, Czechia

Český Krumlov is a town of roughly 13,000 residents in Czechia, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1992. The Vltava River loops twice around its medieval core, wrapping the old streets in a tight horseshoe. Above the rooftops rises a 13th-century castle complex, the second-largest in the country after Prague Castle, complete with a covered bridge dating to 1624 and a 54-metre Baroque rotating open-air theatre stage last rebuilt in 1766–1767. The 109-metre Egg Bridge, the longest stone span in central Europe when constructed, links the two banks. Few towns pack so much into a single river bend.
