Bologna / Italy is the historic capital of the northern Emilia-Romagna region. Bologna has the oldest university in the World, established in 1088, which is still in operation today. Everybody also knows Spaghetti Bolognese…
The city often overlooked by tourists though with a popular airport it’s easy to visit as a rather non-touristy Italian city.
We start our walk at the the Fountain of Neptune on Piazza Maggiore. This sprawling plaza in the city center is lined with arched colonnades. We see Renaissance buildings such as the Basilica di San Petronio and the City Hall there. We explore the city center, see sights like the medieval Two Towers.
Our tour gets all around the center and also to more modern parts of the city up to the train station of Bologna.
We return to our starting point on the central Piazza Maggiore.
