Haarlem in the Netherlands is easy to reach from Amsterdam. This quieter city is a nice day trip from the Dutch capital.
We are starting our tour on a windy day (in June 2019) at the train station and walk into the old town centre. Haarlem retains its medieval character of cobblestone streets. Gabled houses are also to be seen everywhere yet the most important sight is the St. Bavo Church.
We circle around the streets and market square for a bit to enjoy the early summer atmosphere. After a while we get to De Adriaan, an 18th century windmill and museum.
From there we take a long way back along the channels, see the Amsterdamse Poort old city gate and reach the train station from where we get back to Amsterdam.
Note: a cut at the windmill (
43:21 ) and a bit of wind noise here even with the windmuff
