Wetzlar is a charming city located in the heart of Germany’s Hesse region. Wetzlar is located at the divide of the Taunus, Rothaar and Westerwald mountains. The city is mostly known among camera enthusiasts for optics industry and the still existing Leica camera company.
On our tour of Wetzlar we see the old town with many half-timbered houses. We walk all around the town, passing the Wetzlar Cathedral and even the Alte Lahnbrücke.
We end our tour at the Lottehaus, a historic house that offers a glimpse into the past. The Lottehaus is a museum as it was the birthplace of Charlotte Buff, who rejected Goethe. His novel “The Sorrows of Young Werther” is partly based on her.
