Wiesbaden, Germany is the capital of the federal state of Hesse. This city is known for its elegant villas. There are some historic spa houses and a total of 26 hot springs. The city is one of the oldest spa towns in Europe with roots stretching back to Roman times.
On this tour we start on the city center’s market square. There we see the city hall and city palace besides the Evangelical Market church.
Later we pass the Kurhaus, with its grand casino. This area is a centerpiece of the city, reflecting the wealth of the Belle Epoque era. Close by, the Hessisches Staatstheater is built with a blend of neo-baroque and neoclassical styles. Historically, Wiesbaden has been a haven for prominent figures, including Dostoevsky, who famously gambled in the city’s casino.
Our tour continues to finish a round, arriving at the market square again where we started.
