Walking in BUCHAREST / Romania πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄

Old Town to Parliament

Bucharest / Romania is the country’s capital and commercial center. Bucharest offers some attractions besides its landmark the massive, communist-era Palatul Parlamentului government building. Bucharest has benefited from an economic boom along with the EU grants. Many parts of the city that have been rebuilt and now are on par with other European capitals.

Our walking tour starts at the Monumentul Constantin BrΓ’ncoveanu at the St. George Church Orthodox church. We leave this church area to enterthe nearby Old Town, the historic Lipscani district. This part of the city is home to an energetic nightlife scene with many bars and restaurants around a few blocks. There we also see the tiny Eastern Orthodox Stavropoleos Church which is one of the most beautiful religious buildings there.

A nice sight, especially at night, are the Downtown Bucharest fountains. The 44 fountains are placed in a large area making it a popular spot for people to sit around and relax.

Eventually we head to the Palace of Parliament (Palatul Parlamentului) where we end our walking tour.
