Heppenheim (Bergstrasse) / Germany is a town of just around around 26.000 people in southern Hesse. Heppenheim is located on the edge of the Odenwald in a wine producing region.
Currently the town is also known as the hometown of Formula 1 pilot Sebastian Vettel. Heppenheim was first mentioned in 755 and received its town charter in 1318.
We start our walking tour at the town square and explore the historical center with its many timber-framed houses. On this cloudy day we see the St. Peter church first before we walk around the narrow streets in the old and later new part of Heppenheim. There we can also see some part of Heppenheimer Laternenweg which are more than 150 silhouettes by artist Albert Vรถlkl on the street lamps of Heppenheim’s old town.
Our tour finishes right where we started - at the market square.
