Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a ski town in Bavaria. The town’s name was formed when 2 towns united in 1935. With its beautiful location in the Alps near the Zugspitze (2.962m), Germany’s highest peak, Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a popular destination for hiking and winter sports.
Our tour starts near the train station. We arrived from Mittenwald ( https://youtu.be/p5qjiGfbctc ) on this afternoon (in October 2020) which is only some 20 minutes away by train.
Now in central Garmisch-Partenkirchen we get to the town center and conference center which is near the Kurpark that we will visit later. First we check out the shopping streets and see the Bavarian architecture with several painted houses.
We have a look inside the Parish Church of St. Martin (Pfarrkirche St. Martin) in the western part of the town center and see some side streets. We head back towards the Kurpark and walk around this green area of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
At last we get back to the train station, where our train to Munich will soon arrive.
