Łódź (pronounced ‘woodge’) is Poland’s 3rd third-largest city (behind Warsaw and Krakow). The once industrial city is off the usual tourist trail in central Poland. With a once wealthy textile industry Łódź is reinventing itself by rebuilding the city centre which we will visit on this walk.
We start our tour near Park Staromiejski and the Manufaktura. This complex is an arts centre, shopping mall in the city on the grounds of a once huge factory. We stroll around there until we head to the park again, then to the plac Wolności and the long Piotrkowska street.
On Piotrkowska street many restaurants and bars make it an important part of the city. It takes us a good 25 minutes until we reach the end. The sun is gone on this summer evening so we also the end of our walk at the Centrum tram stop.
