Freiburg im Breisgau is located in southwest Germany. With the Black Forest area around it has a reconstructed medieval old town and is also a vibrant university city.
We start the tour in the southern city centre at the Schwabentorbrücke. We head towards the Schwabentor which is a landmark city gate from the Middle Ages. Now on a summer evening in the old town people enjoy relaxing in many of the cities cafés and restaurants.
Near the Martin’s Gate we go to several side streets and eventually the Rathausplatz, where the city hall is. We make it to the Freiburg Minster with a 116m spire, which is also impressive inside. This Gothic cathedral towers over the central square Münsterplatz and is one of the main attractions of the city.
We see more of Freiburg’s lively streets streets and make it to the west side of the city centre with Freiburg Theatre and the modern design of the university library. Going further to the central station after seeing the Colombi Park the weather gets rainy.
We head back through the whole city and end the tour at the Schwabentor.
